A smart start for the brightest little smiles
Center for Orthodontics wants to help your child achieve a healthy, happy smile for life, and the earlier we get started, the easier their smile will be to treat! Bringing your child in for an early assessment could save you time and money on treatment in their teens.
Why should children be seen by an orthodontist?
Orthodontic treatment isn’t just about aesthetics. While a straight, full smile does look beautiful, it can also prevent health problems such as gum disease, tooth chipping, and tooth decay. Treatment may also improve speech, breathing, and digestion problems!
When should children begin orthodontic treatment?
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children be seen by an orthodontist at age 7, or at the first sign of problems. We may not need to begin treatment at this time, but we can monitor the growth of this smile to prevent any issues.
Age 7 is when the first adult molars grow in. This helps Dr. Narula to accurately assess orthodontic issues your child has or may be at risk for. If your child would benefit from interceptive treatment, we can create a gentle custom plan for their smile.
What is interceptive treatment, and how can it help?
Interceptive treatment corrects orthodontic issues in children while they’re still small and relatively easy to solve. This can reduce the need for future tooth removal by creating space for adult teeth, preserving the space created, and influencing jaw growth.
Early interceptive treatment can shorten your child’s treatment time and reduce the risk of damage to crooked or protruding teeth. One type of interceptive treatment we offer is Invisalign® First.
Invisalign® First for small smiles
Invisalign® First is an Invisalign® treatment made specifically for children ages 6 to 10. The smooth plastic aligners won't irritate your child's mouth, and can help guide the growth of their jaws to make room for current and incoming teeth.
The best thing about Invisalign® First is that the aligners are removable. That means your child won't need to adjust their eating or oral hygiene routines during treatment.
