Corrective jaw surgery

Solving problems below the surface

There are some orthodontic issues that can’t be treated with tooth movement alone, especially if a patient’s jaws have stopped growing. That’s where jaw surgery comes in. Jaw surgery may help treat misalignments, jaw joint pain, speech impediments, facial asymmetry, and more.

How does corrective jaw surgery work?

How does corrective jaw surgery work?

Leading up to the surgery, you’ll be in braces for about 12 to 18 months. This will help prepare your teeth to be in the correct alignment once surgery is completed. You may feel that your bite is getting worse instead of better, but it will all make sense once the surgery is finished!

The surgery itself will take a few hours, and will require you to stay in the hospital for a couple of days. After your discharge, the recovery process will take 6 to 12 weeks, after which Dr. Narula will fine tune your smile for a few more months to ensure everything is properly aligned.
